Updating Your Portfolio
I recently shot with my good friends and go-to photography duo Tré Koch and Abdulla Elmaz , in a quirky studio in Chippendale.
These boys are an inspiration. Originally from Melbourne, they decided to challenge their creative eye by moving to London, where they quickly honed their unique and imaginable style of shooting. Having just come back from overseas, they’re now based in Sydney, expanding their work across a range of editorials as well as working closely with some of the world’s best agencies.
This brings me to the topic of portfolios. Having an updated portfolio is a no-brainer in the entertainment industry. Quality, timely head-shots are key, but updating them can become a little pricey if you don’t know where to look. I’ve coughed up $800 for new head-shots in the past, and that only got me three photos. (Which I never used!)
Here’s my advice for finding the right photographer.
Do your research, know the style need: headshots, fitness, lifestyle or beauty
Ask other dancers/models or actors who shot their folio
